REZA AND THE REFUGEES
SYNOPSIS

REZA AND THE REFUGEES is an ensemble dramedy about political refugees building a life for themselves in Holland. The key to the film’s humor and these outsiders’ salvation is the brilliantly stupid idea of participating in the Eurovision song contest to represent Holland. After all, they can’t deport you if you’re famous, right?

This film is a roller- coaster ride, using comedy both to entertain and to reveal the drama and spirit of the refugees. These are outsiders dealing with life in a new country. It is explicitly NOT from the Dutch gaze but rather from the perspective of those living in what we have come to call the ‘refugee crisis.’

The film is primarily set in English as this is the common language spoken among refugees of diverse nationalities. Dutch as well as the refugees’ native languages are also spoken.
